Easy DIY Christmas decor

Hey everyone! It's been quite a long time since I've written on here or made a craft for that matter. I decided that I wanted to make a quick and easy Christmas picture to hang in my undecorated hallway, so this is what I came up with. It was extremely easy and adds a nice touch to our hallway.

St. Patty's Day topiary

This probably isn't the best picture, but oh well. I made this St. Patty's Day topiary for one of my friends to use in her classroom. I thought it turned out pretty cute. I used the same method on this that I used on my previous two wreaths. Very simple and fairly inexpensive. =]

St. Patrick's Day wreaths

I haven't posted anything in awhile. Here is my tissue paper wreath with embellishments that I just completed. It took awhile, but in the end I think it looks fairly decent! =]

Valentine's wreath

I've decided there just needs to be a wreath for every holiday/season! So, I went ahead and made a Valentine's wreath. I've wanted to use a strange material for a wreath for awhile now, but just couldn't think of the right holiday or season I wanted to make it for. But I think V-day is perfect for this!
Supplies:
- wreath form
- paint/paintbrush
- at least 2 loofahs, more if you want it bigger/fluffier
- hot glue
- V-day appliques
- string or ribbon

I used pink & white loofahs I found, where else, at the Dollar Tree. Most of this project all came from the Dollar Tree!
I found these picks that I thought were adorable!

I painted my wreath form a light pink, you can use whatever color you want obviously. I just wanted it to match my loofahs. I think red and white would be cute for this too, or just all red or pink!
I then dismembered my loofahs, there's a little string in the middle of them that I cut, that way you don't have to actually cut the material. I kept one of the pink strings that, I guess you put around your wrist, for later.

I didn't get a picture of this part, because it was awkward and I couldn't hold the material and take a picture at the same time. But, at this point you should have 2 pink and 2 white loofahs sections. I gathered them together and just wrapped it around the wreath form. Then hot glued the ends down to itself. Then I pulled off the hearts from the sticks and glued them onto the loofah. I then took one of the loofah strings and tied it to the top so that it can hang on the wreath hanger! Voila!

I hope you enjoyed this project and that you try it out! Let me know how it worked for you and how you made it your own! =]

Valentine topiary

I haven't really made a lot of Valentine's day crafts, but I knew that I wanted to do something with conversation hearts! I just love them! So, my husband and I went to the Dollar Tree to find some. Everything in this project came from the Dollar Tree!

It was simple and easy! I used leftover flowers that I had from last Easter for my Easter topiaries. The pot was from the flowers I used in my twine-wrapped Christmas trees. All I had to buy was the ball and hearts...$2! Couldn't beat that! =]

The other half of my twine-wrapped trees

They are finally done! The large one seemed like it took ages, my fingers really hurt after wrapping all the twine. But, I think they turned out great! And, all for about $4! Can't beat that!

Twine wrapped Christmas trees...all from the Dollar Tree

I just absolutely love and adore the Dollar Tree! I wanted to have a go with the twince wrapped Christmas trees that I've been seeing floating around blogland lately. So, I hightailed it to DT, picked up some supplies and got to work. If you want to make this, here's what you'll need:

- a spool of twine
- a small cylinder cone
- glittered flowers
- hot glue
That's it!

These are the glittery flowers I found up close, the red one is blurry, sorry! I just loved these, not in the pots, so I plucked them out and plucked them off of their stems.

Now, start to wrap your twine. I at first started at the bottom, but was having too much trouble keeping it on, so I went back and started at the top. Really, there was no glue needed at first. Just hold the twine on for a couple of turns and it will stay in place on its own.

Keep wrapping....it seems like it takes forever! Make sure to wrap tightly and close together so that it stays in place. When you get to the very bottom, secure the end with some hot glue. Then, go back to the very top and wrap some twine around to cover the tip, secure in place with more glue.

Then add your embellishment! Simple and so many variations can be done with this. I have a larger cone that I'm going to do as well. That make take the rest of my life! =] Anyways, I hope you enjoy!

Dollar Tree wreath

I have a few wreath forms and needed to do something with them. I went to the Dollar Tree, and they really have some cute things! I wanted to make a Christmas wreath, since I haven't yet. If you want to make this, here's what you need:

- 8" wreath form
- 3 strands of rope garland
- red paint
- small and large Christmas bulbs
- large snowflake ornaments
- hot glue

I wrapped the garland around. Now, this is 12' garland and it didn't even cover half of the wreath form, so I would suggest 2 or 3 strands. Also, I would paint the form red or whatever color you're going to use, because the green peeked out a little bit. I learned this after I covered the first half, so I had to go in between the holes and touch it up.

So, after I got this done...I had to rip it apart because I didn't have any more garland. I had to travel back to the Dollar Tree, which I went to another one in town, and they didn't have any of this type of garland. So, we went to the original one I got the garland at. They only had one more strand and it looked like a toddler got ahold of it, because it was all tore up. So, I had to settle with some silver and got 2 strands just to be safe, which I'm glad I did.

After I took the red off, I went ahead and painted it so that the green wouldn't show through.

Here you can see where I ripped off the red...by the way, that pink isn't my carpet! =] It's a towel.

So anyhow, I alternated the red with the silver, for every 2 silver there was a red. I think it turned out cute, kinda reminds me of a candy cane.

Then, I embellished it with some snowflake ornaments and bulbs. I didn't want to use a lot, because I thought it would be overwhelming. Here it is...not that hard, but it's been a pain! =]

Valentine's frame

This is kind of cheesy and not that elaborate, but I had these jewels that I found that I'm sure I've had for years upon years. So, I decided to put them to use and since they were all V-day colors, I wanted to make a frame. So, I headed to old faithful -- Dollar Tree! I bought this black frame...

Then added my leftover jewels...

And yes, that's right...it's Joey McIntyre of NKOTB!! My friends and I went to their concert last summer and it was amazing. I just had to put this picture in here. HAHA! Love it!

Fourth of July candles

Here I've made some July 4th candles using Dollar Tree religious candles, a paper placemat, and some paper twist. This set me back a whopping $2!

Here are the candles I used, I have 2 smaller ones that I need to figure out what to do with, I want them to compliment these, but I'm not sure what I'm going to do quite yet.

The paper placemats...

I Mod Podged the paper onto the candles...

Then lastly, I added a paper twist accent.

I really like how these turned out and it was extremely cheap and easy! =]

Book page wreath

So, my real addiction to crafting start with a book wreath tutorial I found. It seemed easy enough and for only two bucks, it didn't matter to me if I messed up. Luckily, it turned out pretty good for my first time. I couldn't get a great shot of it, but I'm sure you've all seen one to get the idea. My friend just couldn't get why I would mutilate a perfectly good book for this, but I told her it was a Dollar Tree book, so it didn't really count. =]

Wedding Goodies (pt. 2)

Here is a part of our centerpieces. I bought these jar candles at the Dollar Tree and the ribbon half off at Hobby Lobby (my mecca!) haha. Anyways, we are going to put two of each on each table with another taller candle holder, which I'll have to post later (also Dollar Tree) and flowers as well.
