Yard Stick Star

I went from not posting anything for over a year, to posting TWO blogs in a week! What is going on?! Anyways, I wanted to make this star for awhile now and I thought Christmas would be a great time for it.

The first thing I did was paint 5 yard sticks white, you could paint them any color you want. Of course, you do this on plastic bags in your living room. Where else would you do it?!

Next, I laid out the yard sticks in a star formation and tied each end with twine.

Then, I wrapped each end with twine several times to make sure it was secure. Then tied it in a knot on the backside. I used wood glue to secure the yard sticks in the middle, otherwise they were loose.

Here is the finished project. Not the most difficult project, but I think it turned out nice. I wanted it to look a little rustic with the twine holding the ends together. I think all I need now is to add some white lights around the edge and hang it outside for Christmas.

Easy DIY Christmas decor

Hey everyone! It's been quite a long time since I've written on here or made a craft for that matter. I decided that I wanted to make a quick and easy Christmas picture to hang in my undecorated hallway, so this is what I came up with. It was extremely easy and adds a nice touch to our hallway.

Natural wall art

I saw something like this on one of those home improvement shows about 4 or 5 years ago. I printed it off from the website and had it tucked away for when I actually moved out on my own. So, about a year ago I got to re-create this wall art that I had been storing away. Now it's hanging in our bedroom, it would've been so bare without it. There were no instructions, but it was so simple to make. I used natural branches from Hobby Lobby and some floral wire. That's it! Just lay your branches out however you want and start tying the intersections together so the whole piece is sturdy. I absolutely love it, it was easy and is a great piece in our room! =]

Skeleton key art

I have seen some different art/projects using skeleton keys and I really enjoyed it. I wanted something where I could hang my keys up, so I thought this would be the perfect thing to go along with that.
Altogether I paid $18 for this project. I already had the canvas, which was a picture. I tried to do a mosaic type thing before this, but it didn't end up looking very good. So, I took some scrapbook paper and Mod Podged it onto the canvas. It's not exactly what I wanted to do, I want some type of border, but I don't have anything to use. I got the key holder at Hobby Lobby for half off. But, here it is...I may have to re-vamp it someday, but I just wanted it out of my hair! =]

Easy art

Here is a piece that I made using toilet and paper towel cardboard rolls. I got the idea from another blog, and I can't find which one to mention it. Sorry. I painted the rolls white, which you can paint whatever color to match your home. Then I smashed them in half and cut about five from each roll and started to hot glue like crazy. I had 5 or 6 more paper towel rolls that I could've added, but after this much, I was over it. =]

Wordle

So, I was on a blog the other day and saw that they used wordle.net. I love this website! You just enter a bunch of words and it flips them up, down, and all around for you to make a custom art thing-a-ma-jig. You can change the font and the color to your specifications. I made one to go in the bathroom with different words associated with a bathroom (rubber ducky, suds, squeaky clean, etc). Then I'll frame it to put it on a shelf (which still needs to be made) to go along with the decor in there. I think I may make one for each holiday, because it's so easy! Here's this one (I hope the link works!)
